Tramadol can be an effective option for osteoarthritis (OA) of the knee and hip. It is for people who have tried acetaminophen and nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs), or can’t take them.

Raise the dose to 300 milligrams in incremental stages. With Zytram XL, start with 150 mg once daily. Increase to 400 milligrams on alternate weeks until you reach the greatest daily dosage.

How Does Tramadol Work?

Tramadol is an opioid painkiller. It relieves pain by binding to opioid receptors in the central nervous system.

Also, this drug may work by blocking the reuptake of some neurotransmitters. These include norepinephrine and serotonin. But it’s not known exactly how it works.

Tramadol usually begins working within an hour.

When should I stop taking tramadol and call my doctor instead?

Tramadol may interact with many medications. Please ask your healthcare provider. Ask if the drugs you take interact with tramadol.

Do not take tramadol if you are allergic.

Many tramadol products contain acetaminophen.

If you’re taking any other acetaminophen products, be sure to speak to your healthcare providers so as not to exceed.

The greatest daily dose is (max: 4,000 milligrams. What are the side effects of 4,000 milligrams.

Nausea, vomiting, dizziness, and constipation are common symptoms. Headache and drowsiness are also common symptoms. They are side effects of using tramadol.
